Waka descripotion

 Mola lele, bloggers

My name is Ova, and today me and Paterson class have been learning about way finding navigation. I am going to tell you how to make a waka with Maori features.

Our waka  hourua is made out of totara wood, which is lighter than kauri wood.

We have two v-shaped hulls on each side. We chose Maori sails shaped like a v.

The sails are made out of flax (or harakeke in te reo maori), which is strongly woven. Our hut is located in the middle of the beam.

My job on the waka is being a teacher. I teach kids to be really kind, treat people the way they want to be treated. If I am a teacher and kids aren’t being kind I will tell them to treat them nicely.

Here is a picture of my waka on tinkercard.
Thank you for reading! Have a awesome day. Bye Ova,

Way finding navigation

 Hi Bloggers

Today I am going to teach you an amazing millennial knowledge of my Polynesian ancestors, way find navigation. Today me and Paterson class were learning about Matariki and Tupaia. Matariki is a constellation, a cluster of star. Matariki is a cluster of stars that can be found in the sky. There are seven star that comes out at night.

Tupaia is friend with James Cook, Tuapaia is a very friendly boy that help James Cook to find New Zealand.

The navigators used their hand to memorise Matarik, so they knew where to go.
